As usual, the dialectical battles – especially on social networks – which reach their peak during election campaigns, in most cases continue after the polling has closed and the results are known.
One of these examples is between two former elite athletes who have already shown on several occasions that ‘the march is going for them’. One of them is Roberto Sotomayor, former athlete and Podemos’ candidate for Madrid City Council last Sunday.
Meanwhile, on the other side is Luis Figo, who is quite regular in this type of scenario, where he seems very comfortable.
How it could be otherwise has been a long-standing dispute between the two, although in recent weeks and on the occasion of municipal and regional elections, that intensity has died down.
The leader of Podemos in Madrid responded to the Portuguese on Thursday afternoon, five days after the election was held, something that did not go unnoticed by Figo, who wanted to make fun of it.
It all goes back to the statement Sotomayor made last Sunday after learning of the result: “I had a bad day today. We were one-tenth of a point away from getting it.” A few words that elicit a defiant Figo’s reply: “Blah blah blah, you outlived the tale, but you ran less than 100 meters.”
Sotomayor has picked up the baton today, reminding the Portuguese of one of their most famous landmarks. “Hey @LuisFigo, I’ll tell you mine with the Treasury. Do you already pay your taxes, or are you still a cheater?” Podemos had a tweet.
The onslaught is finally put to an end with another intervention by Luis Figo, who reiterates his criticism of the athlete: “Alpha Mel2 you took a long time to respond!! Had to respond to tons of compliments and now what? Well you can always live off your paycheck or become a tax inspector Sucks”.
