LondonNovember 17 – Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIARussian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday that US President William Burns and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intelligence chief discussed “sensitive” issues when they met in Turkey this week.

It was the first known high-level, face-to-face contact between Washington and Moscow since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. Burns, a former US ambassador to Russia, was sent to Moscow in late 2021 by President Joe Biden to warn Putin about Moscow’s military build-up around Ukraine.
“The contact (between Burns and Naryshkin) was initiated by the American side,” Ryabkov said. RTVI, The issues discussed there were of a sensitive nature.
“Talks are on, but it is not settled in nature,” he added. “But (…) Americans need to communicate with us just as much as we do with them.”
Ryabkov said further contacts with the United States would take place later this month, when a bilateral advisory commission on the new arms treaty would meet in Cairo. StartFrom 29 November to 6 December.
