Sam’s Club will launch holiday sales early this year, in anticipation of slowing demand

8th October (WNN) — Walmart-owned discount retailer Sam’s Club indicated on Friday that it expects Americans to return to major holiday celebrations this year after a silent Thanksgiving and Christmas season in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Sam’s Club just announced its plans for the 2021 holiday season, which includes a larger turkey, taller Christmas tree, and a greater list of toys.

The subscription-only company said it would also offer double the discount from last year.

Megan Crozier, head merchant of Sam’s Club, said in a statement, “Sam’s Club will bring more ‘Merry’ this holiday season – more quality items at the club and online, more prices, more ways to shop and more exclusive experiences.” ”

The company said it would launch holiday sales earlier this year, banking on demand from shoppers who were exempt last year after sweeping coronavirus restrictions limited Americans’ ability to get together normally.

Sam’s Club said about 20% of its customers have already started holiday shopping.

“Our members are telling us it’s ‘game on’ this Christmas,” said Sam’s Club chief member officer Tony Rogers. “We’ll be delivering more events than ever before, with an earlier start, more marketing support.”

As part of its holiday plans, Sam’s Club said it is partnering with Beverage to launch a home wine delivery service in more than a dozen states.

According to CNBC, Rogers said, “People feel like they’ve had the last Christmas stolen from them.” “And they look forward to getting back some of those traditions with their families and their friends.”
