San Bernardino County Personal Services Declined Due to Soaring Omicron Growth

Following the announcement that the current surge in the coronavirus pandemic will result in court closures with little or no warning, San Bernardino County officials announced that the county’s other services will also be limited through much of January.

The county announced that many departments will only offer services online or by phone “at least” until January 28, according to a press release issued Thursday, January 13. which cannot be served remotely.

“We must do everything we can to limit the spread of the virus, while at the same time ensuring that the county has access to the services people need,” said Curt Hagman, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, in a press release.

The latest surge in the number of coronavirus cases caused by the omicron variant has led to closures and delays in many industries and institutions. At the local level, many universities and colleges have temporarily moved to virtual learning, and some cities are also making changes to public services.

Affected departments include:

  • Services for Seniors and Adults
  • Agriculture/Weights and Measures
  • Assessor-registrar-clerk
  • Child support services
  • Secretary of the Supervisory Board
  • Community Development and Housing Agency
  • District firefighter and fire marshal
  • District Attorney
  • Human resources
  • Inner Counties Emergency Medical Services Agency
  • Land use services (planning, construction and security, compliance)
  • Public Works
  • Purchase
  • Voter Registrar
  • Management of risks
  • transitional assistance
  • Veterans Affairs
  • Staff development

County museums and historic sites are completely closed during this period, as are county branch libraries, although curbside lending services are available at libraries.
