Dylan Flanagan, 28, spoke to his girlfriend on the phone at around 5 p.m. on Sunday while he was at the lake. All phone calls later went to voicemail, and his disappearance was reported at around 8:15 that night.

Strong winds hampered the search operation on Sunday night. On Monday morning, his kayak was found in Visayan Bay, and other properties were found in the Clear Lake Keys area—a paddle on Rattlesnake Island, and shoes, a hat, a water bottle, and a life jacket on shore near the marina.

At around 10:40 a.m. Thursday, California Department of Fire and Forestry Protection employees found a body by the lake near Olsen Road, where the kayak was found.

The sheriff’s office said an autopsy is scheduled for next week.
