SAN FRANCISCO – A San Rafael resident was arrested and charged in federal court with receiving child pornography from a 12-year-old girl whom he allegedly met through a video game chat room.
Robert Heuser, 32, faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted on a one-time charge. During his first appearance in court on Wednesday, Hauser was released from prison on $ 25,000 unsecured bail, according to court records.
The criminal lawsuit alleges that the FBI recovered chat tapes between Heuser and the girl who told Heuser she was 11 and 12 years old when they spoke. Heuser allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations and received numerous nude photographs.
In one chat, Hauser allegedly exchanged over 20,000 emails and over 13,000 text messages with the girl since 2015, and continued to email her for a full year after she stopped responding in October 2016. authorities. He allegedly asked her for nude photos as an incentive to help him lose weight.
In another chat, a month before the girl stopped answering him, Hauser allegedly lamented: “Look who I am! 27 years old, no job, no diploma … “
The complaint says the FBI interviewed the out-of-state girl last August and she confirmed that she chatted with Heuser after meeting him via in-game chat on her cell phone. The investigation began in March last year, when authorities received information that Heuser was “courting” the girl.
Heuser is due to appear in court on December 13, records show.
