- The Deputy Mayor and Tourist Board meet with key agencies, tour operators and companies such as Ryanair, TUI, Destinia and Minube.
Alicante, November 2, 2022. During the three days of the World Travel Market Fair held in London, Alicante has made progress in promoting itself within the British market, which is the main source of tourists to the city and province. Mari Carmen Sánchez, the deputy mayor and head of the Alicante City & Beach Tourist Board, has “very positively” rated attendance at the fair, one of the most important in the region in Europe. “We are very satisfied that we have arrived with our homework done and the contacts made these days will be of great value to the promotion of Alicante in the British market, which is fundamental to our destination”, he explained.
“We have held meetings with travel agents, tour operators and tourism companies such as TUI, Ryanair, Destinia or Minube, and we have worked on various tourism sectors such as LGTBI, sports tourism and MICE (conferences, events, incentive trips) and business)”, specified the deputy mayor. The aim is to “continue to work to strengthen Alicante as one of the main destinations for British tourism”.
After the worst of the pandemic, British tourism in Alicante is recovering at a good pace, although it has not yet reached 2019 levels. “Good air connections with the United Kingdom are essential to a return to pre-Covid figures and in this sense, we anticipate that the trend will continue to be upward”, Sanchez pointed out.
Alicante has participated with its own stand within the Tourism Comunitate Valenciana stand, which participates in an event that is critical to presenting the destination’s offering in a segmented manner, while at the same time reflecting on the trends, needs and requirements of potential customers. And allowing to know and anticipate expectations, not only from the British market but also from other European markets such as the Nordic market, which continues to grow in the city.
