Sancti Spiritus music from scientific staff

In this XXXIV edition of the Colloquium on Studies of Cuban Musical Culture, the status of Honorary President of the event was given to Juan Enrique Rodríguez Valle

“When it comes to writing the history of music and music in Sancti Spiritus, we must dedicate a large page to Juan Enrique Rodríguez Valle,” let his partner, instrumentalist and orchestra director Alfredo Castro, as an introduction to deliver the status of the President of the Honors Colloquium on the Study of Cuban Musical Culture.

It was one of the most special moments of the XXXIV edition of the event that, after a long silence, returned to the grounds of the fourth city of Cuba.

“We have to talk about him as a trainer of generations by staying for many years in the former School of Music,” remembers Carlos Manuel Borroto, vice president of the Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba. He knows how to push to study music in this territory. Without a doubt, it is a strong support for our culture.

The event also makes visible updated research in an art display followed by people. “Musical studies in Sancti Spiritus have reached and slightly exceeded the borders of our province,” said Yaisel Madrigal, assistant of the virtual modality. “Publishers at the national level, such as the label of the Center for Research and Development of Cuban Music, focus their eyes on these reviews, because in the central region it shows its own marks of style and nature of the show.”

Examples of these unique expressions are known during the Colloquium, as the results of Los Pinares has their rhythm!by Saylí Alba, and Arroyo Blanco, cradle of partying women who made history a tradition todayfrom a collective of authors.

In addition, the conference serves to recognize the people and institutions that support the history of this event, enjoy the exhibition Colloquium on documentary memorylisten to melodies from the Yayabero staff and learn about the work of Ediciones Luminaria to preserve and disseminate the historical-documentary heritage of Sancti Spiritus music.

And as usual during the Colloquium on Studies of Cuban Musical Culture, José Manuel Jiménez Berroa, known for Lico Jimenez.

“His number is the mandatory study of music programs at elementary, middle and higher levels,” said Katia Rojas, teacher and musicologist. He works in concert music and Cuban works. Like many other artists, this Trinidadian is better known abroad.

Since now, those who promote this event are thinking about how to make the XXXV edition of the Colloquium on Studies of Cuban Musical Culture.

“Our goal is to organize ourselves in time so that the event has the quality it demands and it can also be more personal to restore its importance within the music studies of the country,” concludes Dianelys Hernández Oliva , event president.
