Ballston Spa – Several schools were locked down as a precautionary search Thursday for a man who fled sheriff’s duties, officials said.
Officials said there was no known threat to the public at large.
Officials said the incident started at around 9:45 am on Thursday at Jan Suraksha Bhawan.
Officials said 26-year-old Kevin Dahl arrived at the building to retrieve property near the sheriff’s office.
However, the deputy soon determined that Dahl had actively violated the probation warrant for his arrest, officials said. When the deputy started taking Dahl into custody, he fled the scene.
The search for Dahl continued into the early hours of Thursday afternoon, and the search led the school resource officer to put Balston Spa Central School District on lockdown as a precaution, officials said.
Officials said there was no direct threat to the district from the suspect.
Officers described Dahl as 6 feet, 4 inches tall with red hair and red facial hair. Officials also released a surveillance image of Dahal.
Anyone who has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 518-885-6761.
