SATSE demands solutions to the paralysis of the 11-month SAS contracts

Protested at Valme Hospital (Seville) on January 15 due to lack of staff

The Nursing Union, SATSE, of Andalusia criticized that the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has once again put in suspense more than 7,000 professionals who will end their contracts on January 31, 2024, and those who were offered an 11-month contract.

As explained by SATSE, just a month ago, the SAS and the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs announced the extension of these professionals through a one-month contract, which will end on January 31, and their subsequent contracts will continue for 11 more months. However, earlier this week to stop these changes, whose call starts on January 15, waiting for a meeting that has not been called so far.

Because of this, the Nursing Union sent a letter to the General Directorate of Personnel of the SAS to express great concern about the problems caused by the 11-month contracts and to demand the immediate convening of a meeting of the Central Commission on Single Employment Exchange to respond to all affected professionals who are waiting to sign these contracts.

Offer the calendar

In its letter, SATSE requested that the person responsible for SAS personnel detail the data corresponding to the number of category, central and provincial contracts and that a calendar of renewal offers for these contracts be set Without it, it is impossible to guarantee the movement of health centers throughout Andalusia.

The Nursing Union emphasizes that this staff, which has been changed since COVID, allows public health centers to function with normality, despite the fact that there is a lack of staff. It is a disaster to do without them at this time, especially with the current incidence of respiratory pathologies. It is, once again, the patients who will suffer the consequences of health care cuts who will receive worse health care.

Due to this situation, SATSE concluded by warning the Andalusian Health Administration that they will not remain passive in the face of this new I ignored thousands of professionals whom he summoned mobilization next Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the doors of the main hospital centers from Andalusia.

The Nursing Union concluded by insisting that urgent measures be adopted to reduce the high temporary employment deficit affecting Andalusian health centers. Some steps to go through, according to SATSE, the changing structure contracts to interim contracts and long-term contracts and for better job offers.
