School board candidate says doctors helping trans kids should be hanged from tree

a florida school The board candidate applauded after doctors who treated trans children were told to “hang from the nearest tree.”

Elisabeth Janai Lancaster, who is running an August elementary for the Santa Rosa County School Board, made the remarks Monday at a Gulf Coast Patriots event near Navarre, Florida, reports the Pensacola News Journal.

In a video posted to the NWFlorida Conservatives Facebook group, Lancaster focused on gender rediscovery during his address to regional Republicans.

“These doctors who are going with maltreatment and prescribing hormone blockers to these kids should, in my opinion, hang them from the nearest tree,” Lancaster said.

Lancaster, who described herself as a conservative with Christian values, also said that her roles as a mother and grandmother helped her run because she cares about the welfare of students, the newspaper reported.

“I am in favor of the parenting program and against any social engineering projects, especially CRT, or any ideology that is not related to the school’s platform,” Lancaster said. “Children should not be weighed down by the awakened agenda which is leaving the path of destruction everywhere.”

Lancaster’s rival, current Carol Boston, told the Pensacola News Journal that the school board was not in the medicine or pharmaceutical business, it was in the “education business.”

“A statement advocating a violent act such as lynching is disgusting and dangerous,” Boston said. “Calling the killing of Americans who disagree with us is un-American.”

NBC News reported that last month, Florida Gov.’s Ron DeSantis administration requested the Florida Board of Medicine bar treatment for trans children.

The Republican governor also signed the Parental Rights in Education Act, popularly known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which introduced gender identity and sexual orientation in kindergarten through third grade classes in March. The instructions were banned on a large scale.

Devin Cole, an advocate for transgender people as president of the Socialist Trans Initiative, observed what Lancaster simply called “the quiet part of the Conservatives’ faith”.

“Of course, as president of Strive, this is both a disgusting and deployable comment and a reminder that we must unite and fight these horrible reactionary people who want to kill us,” Cole said. “She said a lot. They want to kill us, and we have to do everything in our power to overthrow them, because now it’s boiling down to a matter of life and death for us as transgender people.
