Secret in Hollywood! Actor Julian Sands still missing after two weeks

After nearly two weeks of air and ground searches, US authorities have found no sign of actor Julian Sands, who disappeared while hiking in California.

“Multiple ground and air efforts have been conducted,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in charge of the search efforts said in a statement Tuesday night.

“So far, Mr. Sands has not been found and there is no evidence that we have located his current location. Operations will continue as long as the weather is favourable.” (Also Read: Aida Victoria Merlano Gives A Powerful Message About Valentina Trespalacios)

Sands, who rose to fame as Helena Bonham Carter’s romantic partner in the film Room with a View (1985), disappeared on January 13 on San Antonio Mountain, about 3,000 meters high and on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

Authorities found another missing climber there on Tuesday afternoon. The 75-year-old man suffered injuries as a result of the weather conditions.

While rescuers continue to search for the British actor, one of his four brothers told a local newspaper last Tuesday that they had come to terms with missing him.

“I think it’s gone,” Nick Sands told the Craven Herald & Pioneer, a daily from the British town of Skipton, where he spent his teenage years.

“Sibling rivalry being what it is, I have to get out there and prove me wrong,” he continued.

Julian Sands, 65, is an experienced climber who in the past has described himself as happiest when he is “near the top of a mountain on a gloriously cold morning”.

“When I was in Los Angeles, Mount Baldy [como se conoce popularmente a la montaña San Antonio] It was his favorite place, he went as far as he could, ”said Nick Sands. “It was in the hills and mountains that Julian really came alive.”

The actor, who starred in Warlock (1989) and the 1998 adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, lives in Los Angeles. He has three children, two of whom are with his wife, writer Evgenia Sitkowitz. (Read here: Adamari Lopez defends herself from criticism for passionate kiss with Daniel Arenas)

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department reports that there have been 233 rescue missions on Baldy Mountain between 2017 and 2022, resulting in eight deaths.

“Exposure to the elements and falls contribute to Mount Baldy’s increased mortality, and the risk of avalanches exacerbates rescue efforts,” the dispatch explained.

“Many climbers, experienced and novice, underestimate the rugged terrain, unpredictable weather and high winds that occur in our mountainous regions,” he said, advising climbers to “avoid dangerous areas like Mount Baldy” at this time.
