Security Giants Logan Ryan Tests Positive For COVID-19 Will Probably Skip Bucs Game

Coach Joe Judge said Friday morning that after testing positive for the virus, the safety of giants Logan Ryan will be placed on the COVID-19 standby list.

Ryan, who has been vaccinated, must have an asymptomatic course and two consecutive negative PCR tests 24 hours apart to be cleared for Monday night’s game in Tampa.

But Judge said it looks like a confirmed positive, making Ryan’s availability against the Bucs unlikely.

“I wouldn’t say this is currently a false positive like last week,” Judge said.

Ryan tested positive on Thursday, the judge said. Vaccinated players only need to be tested once a week, so Ryan tested it on Monday, but again on Thursday.

The coach said Ryan had no symptoms that prompted him to get tested on Thursday. The circumstances surrounding him prompted him to retest and find a positive result.

“It wasn’t really him,” Judge said. “I’m not going to go into details of his personal situation, but that was what triggered the anxiety that made him get tested over and above once a week.”

Several members of the Giants’ secondary line are unvaccinated, including starting quarterback Xavier McKinney and corner adori Jackson.

Judge said he moved the Friday morning meeting to a virtual environment to keep it from scattering, but that all players will be in training on Friday except winger Lorenzo Carter, who is out of the game for the third day in a row due to stomach trouble.
