BASTAD, Sweden ( Associated Press) — Francisco Serandolo ended a dream week by winning his maiden ATP Tour crown on Sunday, defeating fellow Argentine Sebastian Baez in straight sets to become champion at the Bastad Open.
Serendolo won 7-6(4), 6-2 in 1 hour 14 minutes. He became the first Argentine since Carlos Berloc in 2013 to win the tournament title on Swedish clay.
The key to the final was in the opportunities for the service break. While Cerundulo capitalized three out of 11 he had, Baez took advantage of one out of 10.
Serendolo, 23, became the eighth player this season to win his maiden ATP title.
