Six Flags Magic Mountain Unveils Wonder Woman Single Slides for 2022

Six Flags Magic Mountain will add an innovative new single roller coaster where riders will ride the monorail in 2022, as Valencia Amusement Park expands its record-breaking rollercoaster to 20.

The new Wonder Woman Flight of Courage will debut in DC Comics’ Magic Mountain in the summer of 2022 as the tallest and longest attraction in the world, according to Six Flags officials. Initially, the slides with a delayed pandemic were supposed to open in 2021.

The new Wonder Woman Flight of Courage coaster will reach a top speed of 58 mph after ascending a 131-foot hill and first descending at an 87-degree angle. The four 12-passenger trains will travel on a 3,300-foot track with three upside-down motions – crows dive, zero gravity roll and 180 degree stalls.

The entrance and queue to Flight of Courage, a Greek style, will be dedicated to the hidden island of Temiskira, Wonder Woman’s fictional home. The lineup will showcase Wonder Woman’s legacy and life by explaining how she got her super powers.

The addition of the Wonder Woman stand to DC Universe will also include a new restaurant and bar, as well as a retail store.

Rocky Mountain Construction’s Raptor monorail track uses an innovative new roller coaster design from an Idaho-based amusement ride manufacturer. Passengers of the RMC single-rail coaster sit on a linear train, legs apart on an I-beam.

The RMC coaster route layout for Wonder Woman Flight of Courage is expected to extend from the DC Universe area to the Metropolis Plaza next to the dark 3-D Justice League attraction. The new ride will be accompanied by a pair of DC comic-themed stands: Riddler’s Revenge and Batman: The Ride.

The new Magic Mountain slides are expected to reuse the station home of the former Green Lantern: First Flight, the Intamin ZacSpin, which has been removed and relocated to Montreal’s La Ronde amusement park.

The adjacent Tidal Wave water attraction has been removed to make way for the new Magic Mountain coaster, where new monorail coaster supports are already underway on the footers.

The new superhero roller coaster is expected to feature a dual layout with two turns at the center of Metropolis Plaza, which Coaster Kings says should be “a pretty iconic sight.”

The new Magic Mountain coaster appears to be a slightly larger version of the Jersey Devil coaster that recently opened at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey’s West Coast.

Great Adventure’s Jersey Devil single track debuted in June as the tallest, fastest and longest ride in the world. According to the roller coaster database, the 130-foot roller coaster has a top speed of 58 mph on a 3,000-foot track through the forest. Trains with the Great Adventure coaster go through a raven dive, 180 degree stall and zero gravity roll.

Rocky Mountain Construction has built similar Raptor cupholders at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (Wonder Woman Golden Lasso), California’s Great America (Railblazer) and Silverwood in Idaho (Stunt Pilot).
