Morocco has drawn up a new plan to expand its railway lines and renovate its trains with provisions of about 35,000 million in cash. You have already arrived in Spain to start looking for work. But he has a clear rival in this fight: France.
It was at the Spanish-Moroccan summit that took place in February, when talks between the two countries began. The Ministry of Transport of Morocco has informed that there will be several national companies interested in the implementation of various projects that will soon be developed in the African region.
After a meeting between Raquel Sánchez and the ministers Mohammed Abdeljalil (Transport and Logistics) and Nizar Baraka (Infrastructure and Water), a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, with the aim of working, especially in the railways and its infrastructure. But also in the extensions of the airports of Tingi, Marrakech and Agadir and the growth of different ports.
1,100 kilometers high speed
Morocco intends to transform its railway network, for which it intends to invest almost 35,000 million euros until the year 2040. Its goal is to create 1,100 kilometers of high-speed lines, including those that connect the cities of Kenitra and Casablanca with Marrakech, which will later be expanded to Agadir, and another to be built between Rabat and Oujda. They will also buy hundreds of trains to cover the new services.
In addition to high speed, the African country also wants to add 1,600 kilometers to the conventional rail network. And, already at sea, the aim is to unite them with the nine seas. For this, its budget is more than 2,000 million coins, which will be used in the works until 2025.
But, in addition to the Spanish companies, the French are also interested. But the relationship between the two regions is something that history reveals. In fact, the French government has already provided 1,000 billion euros in loans to finance Morocco’s first high-speed train, which began operating in 2016. So the battle has just begun.
