Everything at the same time everywhere was a big winner at the Oscars 2023, Daniel’s film received seven of the eleven statues for which it was nominated and the fiercest competition that was in many of them.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s film was the big favorite of the night, but more than one nominated award before the ceremony was turned in favor of several distributed earlier in the evening.
This is not the case with the 2023 Oscars, which saw films like Los Fabelmans or Inisherin Banshee go home empty-handed.
There are several films that competed in several categories and returned in this edition of the Oscars with what they placed at home, either because of the success of Everything Together Everywhere, or to run in the front of All Quiet. . It was also the case with Austin Butler: Brendan Fraser of the Academy chose the best actor.
For someone to win the Oscars, others must win
It leaves souls empty in pain in Inisherin: the film drew BAFTAs, but none of the nine sets it won in competition.
Elvis, with his eight nominations, tied the knot with Austin Butler for Best Actor, but in the end it was Brendan Fraser who won the award. The film is not as high profile as other musical biopics.
Steven Spielberg and the film lovers that is The Fabelmans didn’t convert any of their seven names, although the good old Ke Huy Quan remembered him when he decided to collect them.
Another film that relied heavily on its lead was TÁR: out of its six nominations, the one that seemed most likely was Cate Blanchett. However, Michelle Yeoh and her team won the competition everywhere at the same time.
Finally, Babylon, with its 3 names, hoped to be surprised with its 1920s Hollywood, but Damien Chazelle’s film turned out to be the evening.
The 2023 Oscars could be more extended, but the multiple story of Everything Once and Everywhere has eclipsed stories like Steven Spielberg. That’s not to say that all of the “big losers” this year are fantastic works that are very worthwhile. Don’t forget that an Oscar nomination is a medal of honor.
