St. Kanzian, Krumpendorf: Vacationers kept thieves in check

A 64-year-old man from the Spittal district drove his car to Sankt Kanzian in the night from Sunday to Monday and parked in a wooded area. At around 4 a.m. he stole an unlocked bicycle from the parking lot of a hotel staff house and rode it to a nearby guesthouse. He entered it through the back door, went to the office there and searched it for cash. The owner of the house (45) was woken up by the noise and noticed the man she did not know. Together with her husband and two holiday guests who had been summoned, the 64-year-old was prevented from escaping and was held until several police patrols, including a service dog patrol, arrived. The sneak thief was temporarily arrested and taken to the Klagenfurt prison after being questioned.

After a detailed description of the person, the man was found by a police patrol at a grocery store a little later. In his possession was the stolen money in said denomination, and the woman was able to recognize him in a comparison. The man, a 55-year-old Croatian, did not confess. He is shown.
