A 12-year-old boy was wounded in the chest Friday night in St. Paul.
The officers were called to the intersection of White Bear Avenue N and Idaho at about 7:45 pm in connection with reports of shots fired, according to St. Paul police. When officers from St. Paul arrived, officers from Maplewood were treating a boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. St. Pavel was taken away to the regions.
According to Natalie Davis, a department spokesman, one witness told police officers that they saw a large group of teenagers arguing and then heard several shots and saw the victim lying on the ground. According to Davis, people at the scene were unable to provide officers with a detailed description of the suspect.
The victim is expected to live. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Man shot in the face in St. Paul’s Lane
In another incident, St. Paul police said a man was taken to hospital on Friday evening after being wounded in the face.
The officers were summoned to block 600 St Albans at about 5:45 pm following reports of several shots. Eyewitnesses said they heard shots and saw a white truck run away from the area. Nearby officers stopped a white truck and arrested 32-year-old Xia Xiong on outstanding warrants and drug charges, said Natalie Davis, a spokeswoman for the department.
Police then found a 39-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to the face at the intersection of Dale Street and Thomas Avenue. According to Davis, St. Paul was taken to the regions for non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the two men were in the alley when an unknown suspect fired a shot at them. The investigation is ongoing.
