St. Paul’s Winter Carnival 2022 is mainly associated with outdoor activities – parades, ice figurines, snow sculptures. But outdoor and indoor health precautions are advised as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
On Monday, the St. Paul’s Festival and Heritage Foundation, which organizes the carnival, announced the COVID rules for the 2022 event, which will run from January 28 to February. 6.
Winter Carnival attendees and volunteers are “strongly encouraged” to be fully vaccinated or tested for COVID within 72 hours of participation. According to the carnival press release: “We require that if you have tested positive for COVID, have been in contact with someone with COVID and/or have symptoms related to COVID, you do not attend the Winter Carnival.”
Security protocols for indoor Winter Carnival events at the Landmark Center, St. Paul Hotel, RiverCentre, and Intercontinental Hotel can be found on each property’s website.
According to a press release, the foundation will provide masks to volunteers at official Winter Carnival events, hand sanitizer at event venues, and will enforce health and safety regulations.
St. Paul currently has mandatory masks and vaccinations (or a negative COVID test) for many indoor areas.
“Regardless of your point of view on vaccinations, masks, or any other pandemic-related guidelines or regulations, please be respectful of those around you,” the foundation said in a press release. “Some people may not be comfortable with hugs, handshakes, or other close contact. When in doubt, ask before you act.”
