Star Wars has broken its silence on Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka. In an interview with IGN, fourth episode director Peter Ramsey shared his impressions of filming the final scene, which features Hayden Christensen’s Sith Lord and Rosario Dawson’s Togruta appearing in live action for the first time. A highly anticipated meeting that hasn’t happened since the Clone Wars, if we don’t count the fight in the Sith Temple of Malachor that took place in Rebels. After all, he was Darth Vader in that moment.
Peter Ramsey noted that being in Ahsoka’s scene with Anakin Skywalker came as a shock to both Hayden Christensen (whom he described as “a really nice person”) and fans. The filmmaker said it has “a lot of meaning” for the Star Wars prequel trilogy actor. He also recognized how important the “reunion” between these characters was, especially given that they had been separated for so long. It was certainly a very special moment.
A reunion that all fans have dreamed of for so long
“We talked about what it means for Anakin to see Ahsoka again after so long, that it’s a reunion for her,” explained the Star Wars series director. “And I said, ‘It’s like you haven’t seen your daughter in two years.’ She went to college and you see her again and she’s like a different person, but she’s still your daughter.'”
“As for Rosario Dawson, the Ahsoka actress knew what Anakin’s appearance meant in the story,” Peter Ramsey said of this year’s big Star Wars moment. “It was about selling the idea that you woke up somewhere with no idea what was happening, without understanding anything. ‘I’m dead? I’m alive? Am I where I think I am?’ And the way her expression changes at the end when she sees him and says his name… It’s so sweet. Basically, it’s like she’s the same person she was the last time she saw her master.”
