Summer is coming this weekend: here’s your guide to enjoying the sun by dancing, stretching, jogging, boating and more

With the arrival of summer this weekend, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees Celsius, it’s time to take full advantage of the warmer weather.

There are always events happening around the country and whether you want something to keep the kids entertained, an active Saturday in the woods or a weekend spent listening to music, there is bound to be something for you to enjoy.

Here is a list of things to do during the pleasant sunshine.

Sunny Dhun

MusicTown 2022 is about to take Dublin by storm this weekend. This Saturday and Sunday musical experience can be a fun way to spend your weekend.

Why not visit the bandstand in Phoenix Park this Sunday and enjoy the sunshine while listening to the NCH Gamelan Orchestra – an Indonesian percussion ensemble that performs traditional Javanese music alongside modern compositions.

It is a free concert for people of all ages and will eventually give the public a chance to attend a music workshop. It will be between 2 pm to 5 pm.

Also on Sunday, Musictown will take over the Grand Social in Dublin, with Glasshouse presenting arrangements of Kate Bush and Prince. The event will start at 7 pm and admission is €12.50.

The Dublin Art Street Walking Tour is a great way to see the hidden gems that artists have created throughout the capital.

This tour would be a perfect activity for this weekend, walking around the whole city, enjoying the beautiful weather and amazing art.

You’ll visit more than 15 locations across the city, showing you tons of pieces that are hard to find.

Botanic Gardens in Dublin, which is hosting tours this weekend

A guided tour at Ireland’s premier Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin, just outside Dublin city centre, offers a wonderful, relaxing way to spend your Saturday afternoon.

Tours are also available to his sister’s garden in Kilmacuragh, Co Wicklow.

The tour guide will highlight all the most beautiful places in the garden and you can always stop at the cafe to eat.

Admission is €5 and children under 12 can enter for free.

If scenic walks and dancing are your thing, then Rock the Forest is just for you.

It takes place this weekend at Cloonfad in Co Roscommon.

With the sun shining this Saturday, you can take the opportunity to be active and indulge in this 5km walk/run. What makes this 5km more exciting than your average walk/race is the musical experience you’ll be carrying throughout.

Not only will this be a perfect family day out, but the walk is to support the Mayo/Roscommon hospice.

So why not whip up your best fancy-dress gear for the weekend and head to the Clunfed Scenic Forest.

Tickets start at €6. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

If you’re in Kilkenny this weekend after a walk through town or visiting Kilkenny Castle, the kids might be looking forward to something exciting to do.

Courtney’s Daredevil Circus will hit the city this weekend, with several shows on both Saturday and Sunday.

Spend a day at sea on the Dublin Bay Cruises Howth Tour, an activity the whole family can enjoy. With the sun shining through this weekend, setting sail on our shimmering waters is definitely not to be missed.

With a rich musical history of Dublin, a music tour of Dublin this weekend is just the tonic for music lovers in the capital.

The free music tour explores works of traditional Irish music as well as works by Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Dublin Wall of Fame, Boomtown Rats, The Icon Walk, U2, Handel’s Messiah and even Boyzone Will put

The two-and-a-half-hour walking tour leaves the spire on O’Connell Street at 3 p.m. this Saturday.

If relaxation is more aimed at this hot weekend, you can start doing some yoga with friends on Saturday. FIT YARD is hosting an outdoor yoga exercise on Saturday in Rathmines, Dublin.

Exercising in the sun will be a healthy start to your weekend and after class, coffee will be served to the participants.

Haven Sunday Craft Market returned to Waterford, Dunmore, KO, last weekend and it’s an event you don’t want to miss.

With a mix of craftsmen, artists, designers, and new food stalls, you and the family can spend a lovely afternoon strolling Dunmore’s markets.

Just a walk from Lawler’s Beach, this can be the perfect family day out.

This program will run this Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm.
