Sunny Days, Clear Skies Forecast for July 4th Weekend in Southern California

Independence Day weekend has arrived, and as people prepare for their neighborhood block parties, barbecues and firework shows, a big question for fun-lovers is what the weather will be like.

Thankfully, “it’s going to be a really good weekend,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Casey Oswant, with warm temperatures and clear skies expected throughout Southern California.

Along the coastline in Orange and Los Angeles counties, temperatures will reach into the low 70s, possibly in the low 80s, with cloud coverage in the late night and early morning hours forecast to burn through the afternoon.

Officials also warned beach-goers to be aware of the possibility of strong winds over the water creating dangerous conditions near the shoreline.

Moving inland, residents of Riverside County will see temperatures rise into the high 80s and low 90s, and in some cases, such as the Coachella Valley, into the triple digits. San Bernardino County will look roughly the same with most cities at the top in the lower-to-mid 90s.

By Monday, a high pressure system coming from the east will continue the warming trend in inland communities, with temperatures reaching the high 90s by Thursday.

As with any pyrotechnic holiday — especially during hot, dry weather and the threat of wildfires — Oswant urged residents to be vigilant and leave fireworks to professionals.
