A “highly intoxicated” suspect was arrested after a woman was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, police confirmed.
According to the arrest report, the crime happened shortly before 1:30 am in the 900 block of 3rd Street Southwest (SW) Miami, when the victim’s car was parked at his house, but three people were walking on electric bikes. approaching from behind.
“When the victim came home from work, he went to his mailbox and three guys pointed their guns at him and stole his stuff,” said Kiara Delva, Miami police spokeswoman.
One of them pointed a gun at him and ordered him to sit on the ground. According to the police report, the three each took the victim’s wedding ring, iPhone 13, her Apple Watch, a backpack, and the keys to her white Honda Civic, then fled the scene in a vehicle.
The victim was able to call the police from her boyfriend’s phone and provided authorities with the location of her car based on her phone’s GPS location.
Officers arrived at the Sugarhill apartment complex located at North 71st Street and 14th Avenue, where they found a car and saw three suspects jumping over a fence, authorities reported.
Two of the suspects were allegedly able to flee on foot, but the third was detained and later identified as 21-year-old Rosniel Ricardo Orfilia.
Orfilia, who was wearing the same clothes as one of the suspects in the carjacking and theft, was identified by the victim as one of the three men who assaulted her outside her home, authorities said.
Police were unable to interview the young man after his arrest because he was “too drunk,” but he was charged with armed robbery and car theft and is being held without bail due to the seriousness of the charges. TGK prison, com records show.
