Teen tracking Elon Musk’s jet says he’s found Mark Zuckerberg’s plane

The wise kid who caught the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk by tracking his private jet revealed this week that he has unearthed a private plane used by another tech billionaire: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Jack Sweeney, a student at the University of Central Florida, tweeted last month that the original plane had tracked him @ZuccJet account “No longer Mark.”

But as of this week, the teen said it had identified a new jet tied to Zuckerberg and resumed tracking accounts.

Sweeney tweeted a purported photo of the plane, “Well jackpot @ZuccJet now to be totally accurate.” “We’ve got Mark Zuckerberg’s jet N68885. Many travels point to it as being him. ,

Sweeney uses publicly available flight data to automate Twitter accounts that track the movements of private jets owned or used by notable public figures, including Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates. When the Russo-Ukraine War broke out, Sweeney set up an account tracking superyachts belonging to major oligarchs.

The @ZuccJet account has more than 7,000 followers as of Thursday morning, while Sweeney’s most popular account, Musk-tracking @ElonJetHas over 400,000 followers.

Sweeney did not provide further details on how he determined the plane was linked to Zuckerberg. Attempts to reach him prior to publication were not immediately successful.

Meta representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Critics of Sweeney’s work, including Musk himself, have argued that the accounts pose a security risk.

Meta spends a fortune every year on security measures to protect Zuckerberg and his immediate family from potential threats. The tech giant noted in a recent SEC filing that it had begun renting an aircraft for Zuckerberg to use.

“As of March 2022, we lease a private aircraft that is indirectly and wholly owned by Mr. Zuckerberg and operated by an independent charter company for business and personal travel by Mr. Zuckerberg,” the filing said. is.”

As The Post previously reported, Meta’s security spending for Zuckerberg reached $27 million in 2021 — with more than $15 million of that amount being “personal security for Mr. Zuckerberg at his residences.” Even during his personal journey.

Meta told shareholders that the spending is necessary because its top boss “is synonymous with Meta and, as a result, negative sentiment about our company is directly tied to, and often transferred to, Mr. Zuckerberg.”

Sweeney attracted national attention earlier this year when The Post and other outlets reported that Musk had contacted him — offering $5,000 to delete the tracking account because it posed a “security risk.”

“I don’t like the idea of getting shot with a nutcase,” Musk said in a message to Sweeney.

Sweeney counteroffed, requesting $50,000 and an internship. Musk said he would consider the offer but eventually declined to respond.

In addition to gaining Twitter followers, Sweeney received a job offer from Stratos Jet Charters, a private charter flight firm based in Orlando. He also started selling merchandise to monetize his accounts as a business.
