Tennessee Governor Invites Unvaccinated Nation Staff To Join Highway Patrol

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has invited officers across the country to join the Tennessee Highway Patrol, promising that no COVID-19 vaccination is required.

“Today I have a message for cops in New York, right down to the deputies in Los Angeles: we want you to join the Tennessee Highway Patrol,” Lee said in a video ad released Wednesday. “Our forces are among the most professional in the country and we will not stand between you and your doctor.”

Lee said Tennessee has a low cost of living and no income tax.

Li also said the government would help with the costs of relocating new troops.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also openly hired out-of-state law enforcement officers. He has offered a $ 5,000 bonus for new officers heading to Florida, which requires approval from state legislators and funding at the next legislative session starting in January 2022.

“With so many cities and states choosing to disrespect, demean, and abandon noble law enforcement work, we want Florida to continue to value our law enforcement men and women today, tomorrow, and for generations to come,” DeSantis said in August. …

Both governors oppose the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine.

Last week, Lee signed a law banning government agencies and schools from administering COVID-19 vaccines. The law also prohibits private businesses and schools from asking for proof of vaccination or “vaccine passports.”

However, in other states, such as New York and California, mentioned in Lee’s speech, unvaccinated law enforcement officials face dismissal from their jobs if their exemptions are not approved.

There are currently more than 930 military personnel in Tennessee, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Matt Perry. Perry told Lee earlier this month that he is pursuing a target of 1,300 soldiers, the Associated Press reported.

“I would say you have to be challenged by the fact that you have an administration that would like to have 1,300 soldiers on the road right now,” Lee Perry said at the time. “So you should think about what is holding you back from doing this and act aggressively.”

Friday Lee too announced on Twitter that it will not extend the COVID-19 state of emergency, which is expected to expire Friday night.

“If our state is faced with any leaps in the future, we will consider temporarily restoring this instrument, but for now we are assessing opportunities for permanent deregulation,” added Lee.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
