The last week of October will be marked by two simultaneous events: the traditional time change and (in large areas of Spain) the rains. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) indicated that as usual in recent days, the northwest quadrant was the most affected by rain.
In fact, the agency has activated a yellow warning for rain for Saturday in the northwest and interior of A Coruña, the interior of Pontevedra, the RÃas Baixas, the mountain and southern part of Lugo, and the mountainous area of Ourense. The accumulation of 40 liters per square meter is expected in 12 hours.
AEMET also warned about the coastal events that will happen this weekend. Looking ahead to Saturday, the warning is orange along the Galician coast and yellow along the Asturian, Cantabrian, and Basque coasts.
In any case, according to the spokesman of the State Meteorological Agency, Rubén del Campo, the rain on Saturday will also extend to other areas beyond Galicia: Asturias, western Castilla y León, and northern Extremadura.
On Sunday, a new front in the Atlantic will become the protagonist. Its area of influence is greater and it will leave rain all over the west of the peninsula, so many Spaniards will have a day to adjust to the time change due to the rain.
Leaving the Atlantic slope, in the Mediterranean area, on Saturday and Sunday, partly cloudy skies will prevail.
Heavy rain this Friday in Galicia
However, the eastern part of the peninsula will have its share of rain (albeit more limited) at the start of the day this Friday. The rain will be more abundant in Galicia, where the yellow warning is activated because it can be strong locally or continuously and accompanied by a coastal storm.
Appropriately, the beach is the other main protagonist this Friday. As of Saturday, the entire coast of Galicia will be under an orange warning due to coastal events. AEMET has also activated yellow warnings on the coasts of Asturias, Cantabrian, Basque, Balearic, Granada, and Almeria.
Finally, the northern part of Castellón will be under a yellow warning for wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. The coastal areas of Tarragona and Barcelona will also be under the same warning, although due to winds of up to 70 kilometers per hour.
