The Ambassador of Cuba presents a letter of Credence to the Governor-General of the Republic of Australia
Canberra, May 17, 2023.- Ambassador Tanier Diéguez in a solemn audience before the Governor-General of the Republic of Australia, His Excellency David John Hurley, gives him the Letter of Credence, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic. before that time in Cuba.
During the meeting, the ambassador highlighted the good state of bilateral relations between the two nations and thanked Australia for its stance against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government on Iceland.
Likewise, the Cuban ambassador expressed his commitment to promoting economic, commercial relations and cooperation in areas of common interest.
The governor, for his part, agreed on the good state of relations between the two peoples, as well as on the common elements that both countries have, which provide the opportunity to expand bilateral relations, especially in the field of education.
A solemn ceremony took place in Government House. The Ambassador accompanied members of the Cuban Embassy to the Republic of Australia. Present on the Australian side were Linda Hurley, wife of the President General, as well as Tim Yeend, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; that country’s chief of protocol for the Foreign Ministry, Ian McConville; among other officials.
