The Balearic president responded to the Catalan leader, who used the archipelago for his demands directed at the PSOE
The President of the Balearic Government, Margalida Prohens (PP), violently rejected his Catalan counterpart’s intention to include the Balearic Islands in his negotiations with the PSOE on autonomous financing.
The Mallorcan leader expressed his previous rejection of this negotiation strategy through a public statement in which he responded to Pere Aragones that his executive “will not accept bilateral negotiations between the PSOE and another autonomous community of our resources.”
Prohens stated that “this paternalism on the part of another autonomous community is unacceptable”. And he stressed from the beginning that these negotiations with the state of autonomous financing are the responsibility of the members of his executive. ”
In these lines, it is worth noting that the government of the PP defends the need for the development of the system of autonomous financing through a “multilateral” formula.
Prohens himself admitted this last week when he defended that “all the presidents of the region will sit down to talk about the financial system”, allowing him to “defend insularity” while other presidents defend their interests.
In statements made last weekend in Valencia, the Aragonese included the Balearic Islands in the group of communities that, together with Catalonia, “ran out” because of the “fiscal deficit” and that they suffer from “financing less than what is appropriate and what is appropriate for us.”
For this reason, said the Catalan president and leader of the ERC, “we will put financing on the table” in their negotiations with the investment president, Pedro Sánchez.
The Balearic Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of Antonio Costa, also rejected the Catalan president as interlocutor for the Balearic Islands.
