After the meeting held today between the mayor, Jesús Julio Carnero, and the general director of Centers and Infrastructure of the Government of Castilla y León, Jose Miguel Sáez Carnicer, an agreement was reached in which the City Council will move in a plot, different from the one offered by the previous Government team at that time, to the Junta de Castilla y León so that it can build the aforementioned sports center with guarantees.
As indicated by the mayor, “The reality of all this is that between the former group of Government and the Junta de Castilla y León, there is no kind of formal agreement. There is not a single transfer of the scheme of the City Council. Only, in “Those June 6, 2022, the Governing Board unilaterally approved a text of a collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Education for the construction of a shared-use sports center, without consulting the Board itself.”
So now, added Carnero, “we are forced to annul that agreement with the Government from that time, for very clear reasons, because, for technical capacity reasons, the sports center does not fit the space where it is intended to be built. .”.
In short, a “break” that the PSOE had maintained for months was effectively unblocked, in a short period. The current objective of the City Council is nothing but to speed up the procedures so that the Junta de Castilla y León can start the file for the tender for the project as soon as possible and the works can begin.
In addition, the previous group of the Municipal Government retained credits in 2022 of 1.5 million euros, divided into three items corresponding to the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, which in the hypothetical assumption that the agreement was signed This year, not would be possible to dedicate it to the sports center, because the drafting of the project has not yet begun, and without the project there is no work.
Based on this agreement, the corresponding agreement between the two administrations will be signed shortly, and the project will be created and the works for its construction will be contracted. The Junta de Castilla y León will lead the construction of the facility, and the City Council will participate in its co-financing.
Technical details
The sports center will sit on an area of 4,317 square meters. The possibility of having dimensions of 45 meters long and 30 meters wide and where a stand of about 150-200 seats can be installed on one of its sides.
