The Colombian national team, without players playing in Europe, will play a friendly in the North American region tonight against the United States.
The national team, led by Nestor Lorenzo, will face the Americans at Dignity Health Sports Park Stadium in Carson, California at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Colombian, Brazilian, Argentinian, Turkish and MLS league players were called up for this Colombian national team.
Lorenzo wants to take advantage of this vacancy to see which players can also have a place as a substitute for the qualifying matches.
However, there are players in the roster who have been called up or included in World Cup qualifying matches or Copa América commitments such as Diego Valois, Frank Fabra, as well as Álvaro Monteiro.
“The coach has a clear idea, and that is that we are going to propose what we have, what we are training for and what is to come,” said Valois, a Tallares de Córdoba player. Will continue to strengthen ourselves as a group.”
There are also those who make it to the national team for the first time, such as Yilmar Velasquez (Pereira), Dylan Borrero (New England Revolution), Alexis Pérez (Grienspor), Andres Reyes (NY Redbulls) and Diaber Cumbindo, among others.
The team worked for several days in Barranquilla and arrived in Bogota on Monday, then traveled to the United States with today’s friendly viewing.
The only casualty on the initially called up roster was America’s Juan Camilo Portilla, who was injured in Barranquilla.
