The Congress organized by AFA and Conmebol for 640 football coaches began today in the city of Santa Fe and will continue until tomorrow under the concept “Your methodology”.
Assistant Secretary General for Football and Conmebol Development Director Nery Pumpido opened the event and welcomed attendees, revealing that “an old wish” has been fulfilled by holding an event of this magnitude in Santa Fe, his hometown.
“I’m doing what I like, which is calling a convention and having this crowd here. For this I am grateful to all the people who came, not only from Santa Fe, but also from other parts of the country,” Pumpido said.
“We want them to take a little bit of everything they hear from these masters of football today, and that will be a total payoff for us,” said the former Mexico 1986 world champion goalkeeper and Libertadores as Olimpia coach since Paraguay.
On the first day of the “Your Own Methodology” seminar, participatory talks were held on South American football, its present and its future.
The Uruguayans Alejandro Garay and Gerardo Pelusso, the Argentines Julio Olarticoechea and Jorge Burruchaga and the Colombians Francisco “Pacho” Maturana and Reinaldo Rueda were appointed to moderate the conversation.
The speakers addressed topics such as the integral training of young footballers, the re-evaluation of the “old masters”, the history of South American football and the pursuit of excellence.
This Thursday’s session continued with practical work in groups on soccer development projects in Santa Fe, including infrastructure, club organizational structure and comprehensive development plans for soccer players.
These works were presented and defended by the groups formed by the participants in front of the aforementioned seminar managers.
The Congress will continue tomorrow with a tactical summary of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the speeches of the Brazilian Mauro Silva and the aforementioned Pelusso, and finally a sort of debate will open with the participants.
