As “a victory,” President Andrés Manuel López Obrador considered the decision made by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, in which Minister Luis María Aguilar was ordered to return to the court the file referring to the tax debt of a company owned by Ricardo Salinas Pliego, therefore believing that it could be resolved there. This is after it has been raised by the minister for nine months.
This morning, in his conference at the National Palace and while the president discussed the controversy about the extinction of the 13 trusts of the Judicial Branch, he revealed that recently, in many cases, the ministers asked Aguilar about “this dangerous matter” and emphasized that it is thanks to the mornings that this matter can be revealed, which represents a debt to the public treasury of 25 billion pesos and Minister Aguilar “wants to close it.”
He explained that other members of the entire court called for a vote to determine whether or not to continue the case of Aguilar’s presentation and decided to return it to the court.
“As it is a dangerous thing, and that is why the mornings are good, some ministers said, ‘No, this thing is very serious, very dangerous’; and they lost the vote. I didn’t even know; the media didn’t say anything about that; the minister (Aguilar) disappeared. This is a victory for us, for all of us who are here, and for those who criticize it. He lost, and he has to take it back to court to settle it there.”
The president said: “Imagine that the minister, Mr. Aguilar, faced a controversy that arose so that books could not be distributed (in Chihuahua and Coahuila), and he defended himself in an effort to affect public education and control the feeling that he is a powerful, independent person.
“But at the same time, in December of last year, a file arrived from a company that had to pay 25 billion pesos in taxes, which it did not want to pay, and that the debt did not even belong to this government; it had not started yet. it’s been a long time. “He came to the court, seeking to have the complaint that he has to pay the 25 billion pesos in tax that was declared unacceptable.”
Therefore, continued the president, the file reached from the courts to the Supreme Court, and in December of last year, Aguilar himself asked to be attracted to it, “so that he can solve it, but it cannot be solved, he kept this time. will pass until it is resolved.” We announced it (in the morning), and even worse, maintaining that the Court should solve it because they consider that they are the majority, that was the time to remove the matter.”
This, he said, was thanks to the complaint made one morning a few weeks ago that other ministers faced and analyzed the matter to resolve that it would be returned to the court.
