The Diamondbacks tied the World Series by winning Game 2

The MLB World Series moves to Chase Field with one win apiece after the Arizona Diamondbacks won Game 2 against the Texas Rangers by a score of 9-1. The team managed by Torey Lovullo had a beautiful night with the trees to tie the World Series. The D-Backs had 16 hits in the second game in pursuit of the Commissioner’s Trophy.

Merrill Kelly Quality Opening

Pitcher Merrill Kelly pitched an epic feat for the Arizona team to emerge victorious at Globe Life Field. The D-Backs starter allowed just one run, on a home run by Mitch Garver in the fifth inning, and struck out nine of the Rangers batters he faced in the seven full innings he pitched. His performance was so epic that he joined Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson as the only Arizona pitchers with nine strikeouts in a World Series game, according to ESPN Stats.

Home run by Gabriel Moreno

The D-Backs opened the scoring in the fourth with a solo home run by Gabriel Moreno. The Arizona catcher sent the ball across center field to record his fourth home run of the postseason. On the same roll, Torey Lovullo scored another run in the ninth thanks to an RBI single by Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Batting rally in the seventh inning

Arizona added two more runs in the seventh thanks to a great rally. First, Alek Thomas hit a double to center and then Evan Longoria sent him to the plate with a grounder to left field. Then, Longoria stepped to home plate thanks to a very strong line drive from Corbin Carroll.

Ketel Marte’s hit streak is still alive

The Dominican player reached 18 consecutive games with at least one hit thanks to a two-run single in the eighth inning. Marte sent the ball with a wild grounder to center field where Pham and Rivera scored to make the score 6-1. The D-Backs scored another run on Carroll’s RBI single before the eighth ended.

The D-Backs’ first World Series victory

After Emmanuel Rivera drove in the last two runs for the D-Backs and Andrew Saalfrank and Luis Frías took care of the last three outs, the Arizona team achieved its first World Series victory as a visitor. Historically, they suffered three losses in the 2001 MLB World Series and Game 1 against the Rangers.
