The Local Police of Alicante arrested this Sunday at the city’s bus station three drivers of a bus covering the line between Roquetas de Mar (Almería and Romania), where two suitcases-backpacks with 56, 2 kilos of hashish and marijuana.
The intervention of the dog Kata, from the canine unit of the Local Police, became decisive in the arrest of these three citizens of Romanian origin, who detected the presence of drugs in two suitcases when they were placed in the trunk of the car.
The intervention of the police happened at 9:55 this Sunday morning by officers who were conducting public security maintenance work around the Alicante bus station, when the bus stopped in Alicante towards the middle of the city, coastal Almeria and Romania.
Agents found the bus with Romanian license plates parked on platform 12 and the three drivers when they accepted the luggage to deposit it in the trunk of public transport, according to sources in municipality.
At that moment, the dog Kata from the canine unit found two black suitcases whose handles had the same name as the recipient on a sticker. Inside one suitcase, 11 bags of hashish weighing 40.4 kilos were found, and in the second another 11 bags of marijuana weighing 15.8 kilos.
When questioned by the agents, the three inmates claimed not to know the origin and ownership of the suitcases, although one of them had a folder with the names and phone numbers of people who would pick up the luggage at Romania.
This same driver assured the agents that the suitcases were placed on the bus by an unknown person in the town of Roquetas de Mar at 4:30 am, according to the same sources.
