Volvo has been extremely successful in Australia’s electric vehicle (EV) market, with almost 3,000 of its electric SUVs already on the country’s roads. Now it is known that the upcoming EX30 SUV has received a great response from Australian customers, and over 800 orders have already been placed. This shows a growing interest in electric vehicles among Australian drivers looking for options to suit their needs.
Stephen Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Australia, underscored the EX30’s appeal as an all-electric small luxury SUV, offering a strong value proposition for an increasingly EV-friendly Australian car market. The EX30’s compact design and clean interior may have contributed to its popularity, especially since there are limited options on the market from other manufacturers.
In terms of specs, the EX30 is the smallest vehicle Volvo will offer in Australia. It is 4,233 mm long, 1,837 mm wide, and 1,555 mm high. Three variants of the EX30 will be available in the Australian market, with prices starting under $60,000. These variants share a 69 kWh battery pack, with the twin-engine version offering up to 315 kW of power, 543 Nm of torque, and a range of up to 460 km on the WLTP cycle.
In addition, the EX30 offers fast charging speeds of up to 150 kW, enabling a charge from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes. With a growing charging infrastructure and a range of over 400 km, the EX30 is a versatile option for both city driving and road trips.
The high number of orders reflects the strong interest in European-brand electric vehicles in Australia. Volvo is a sales leader, and its commitment to sell only electric vehicles by 2026 cements its reputation as a brand that takes electrification seriously.
