The Electricity Price This Monday Fell 5.67% To 61.35 Euro/MWh, Two Hours At Zero Euro

The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers connected to the wholesale market will fall this Monday by 5.67% compared to Sunday, to 61.35 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), and two hours will be marked at zero euros.

Specifically, a minimum price of zero Euro/MWh will be offered between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm, while the maximum price will be recorded between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm when it is 122.57 Euros. will be /MW.

To this average value of the ‘pool’ will be added the compensation to the gas companies, which must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, consumers of regulated tariffs (PVPC), or who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed rate, but for this Monday it will again be at 0 Euro/MWh, a situation that has been repeated since 27 February.

Thus, on May 1, the average price of electricity will be 61.35 Euro/MW, while last year it was recorded at 177.86 Euro/MW on the same day.

The so-called ‘Iberian exception’ has been extended until 31 December, following an agreement reached by Spain and Portugal with the European Commission.

Thus, it is extended for seven months till the end of this year, and there is no exception that it can be extended for more time if the said framework is also extended.

Notably, the agreement not only represents an extension of the Iberian exception that was already in force but also implies some adjustments to accommodate it, such as the price reference, which by now increased by five euros per month. Yes, and now it will be smooth.

In the original agreement, the above reference price for gas had an average price of 48.8 Euro/MW: this was 40 Euro/MW for six months, increasing by 5 Euro/MW every month thereafter. Now, it will increase by 1.1 Euro/MWh to end at 65 Euro/MWh from April. For May, the limit has been set at 57.2 Euros/MWh.
