The era of the current Dodge Charger and Challenger will end with the release of seven special editions, including a convertible

The end of production of the so-called Dodge Charger and Challenger muscle cars on current platforms that do not support electrification is rapidly approaching. Their final model year will be 2023.

Successors, the automaker recently said, should be purely electric. So, the current duo, which has achieved huge commercial success in recent years and among fans of the brand, deserves a proper farewell.

It will not only be a supposedly 900 horsepower version, but also seven special models that will be gradually introduced in the coming months. Dodge called this team “Last Call”.

Six of them are meant to represent the brand’s iconic models from the past. The seventh and final car is slated to be shown at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November, the biggest tuning show in America, and is expected to be the last car of its kind. Will he be the promised nine hundred strong monster? For now, we can only guess.

However, not only special models will be available to buyers, but also ordinary ready-to-wear. She will also receive a reminder of the end of production – a sign with the inscription “Last Call”.

Finally a convertible

The second new addition to the Challenger is something that muscle car and open sky enthusiasts have been calling for since 2008, when the model was introduced. As you may have guessed, this is a convertible version of the Challenger, but not made directly by Dodge.

However, the automaker is reporting this with a press release and official photos as it works on it. The company that cuts out the hard top and replaces it with canvas is called Drop Top Customs.

Challenger convertible conversions have existed before, but this time Challenger convertible buyers will order directly from Dodge stores. R/T and SRT versions are available for retrofitting, and the canvas roof will of course be electric.

Reconstruction costs a lot of money, namely 26 thousand dollars, i.e. 624 thousand crowns. The Challenger R/T starts at $39,000 (Kr 936,000) in the US, or $64,000 (Kr 1.56 million).

Anyone who would like to get such a car in the Czech Republic has to add transportation, 10% customs duty, 21% VAT and individual traffic registration, so the total investment in front of them is well over 2 million crowns.
