A large explosion in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza caused several casualties, according to authorities in the area.
Officials responding to Hamas blamed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for the blast. The IDF did not immediately respond to a CNN inquiry about the incident.
The Gaza Interior Ministry reported that “20 houses were completely destroyed by Israeli bombardment targeting a residential neighborhood of Jabalia,” a densely populated refugee camp.
The director of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza, Dr. Atef al-Kahlout, told CNN that “hundreds” of dead and wounded arrived at the hospital. “There are many more under the rubble,” he added.
“What you saw was a scene that no one could have imagined: wounded martyrs, burnt bodies of hundreds,” said Dr. Mohammad al-Rann, in the hospital in Indonesia, one of the largest in Gaza, which received many victims of the stroke. “Patients and injured people are on the floor, beds, hallways and reception areas.”
“The only thing we can do is continue to receive them. “Most of the injuries are from explosives and head injuries and amputations.”
