Buying an electric car: options
The truth is that the situation regarding electromobility is still far from comparable to the rest of Europe. According to the latest ANFAC electromobility barometer, published in the first quarter of 2023, the penetration of electromobility in Spain is at 11%.
This figure puts our country at the bottom of Europe in terms of electrification, considering that on average they represent 23.8% of the mobile fleet. One of the main reasons for these differences is the price, which determines the final choice.

1) Be EV6
This is not an adaptation of another model from the brand, but rather an option that is designed for 100% electric drive from the start. It features four power levels, a crossover-style body and compact batteries. Its trunk offers 572 liters. It is available from 52,800 euros, but the average discount that dealers now grant reduces it by 8,109 to around 44,500.
2) Mazda MX-30
It is a medium-sized vehicle registered for five people, with a slightly higher body than a car and a 100% electric motor with 145 hp that consumes 19 kWh per 100 km, allowing an average range of 200 kilometers. The trunk holds 366 liters and the starting price is 38,050 euros, which remains around 30,800 after the current average discount of 7,233.
3) Citroen ë-C4
It is the 100% electrified version of the latest generation of the popular C4, which means it hardly differs in interior and exterior design from the rest of the combustion engine C4 range. Its aesthetic is rather conventional, but it is very versatile. It has heat engines. Therefore, it doesn’t have the futuristic undertones of other models. Part of the 37,905 euros that remains at 33,900 after applying the current average discount for this model, which is 4,021.
4)Hyundai Kona Electric
This SUV was launched in 2021, replacing the model previously launched in 2018. It has an electric motor with two power levels and batteries of different capacities, with ranges of 305 and 484 kilometers. It shares the body, multimedia system, equipment and driver assistance assistants with the combustion engine version and is characterized by a trunk volume of 374 liters and a maximum range of up to 484 km.
The Kona Electric 2023 starts at 35,150 euros, a price that is in itself quite tight, meaning that the average discount that dealers offer is lower than its predecessors and remains at 1,722, leaving the price at around 33,400 .
5) MG ZS EV
The combustion version of this Chinese-made English brand was the best-selling model in Spain in August. In this case we are referring to the 100% electric version called MG ZS EV, which has a very competitive starting price of 33,691 euros.
With its length of 4.32 meters, its range of up to 440 kilometers in the long range version and its large interior space, it is a competitor worth considering. After the average discount of 1,060 euros, it remains at 32,600.
In addition to these average discounts that dealers regularly offer (calculated based on real offers), there are also other bonuses such as the MOVES III plan launched by the government to boost sales of this type of vehicles. These are direct subsidies for the purchase of cars with zero and eco labels. The funding amount is 4,500 euros per vehicle; if another old vehicle is scrapped, the amount increases to 7,000 euros.
