The forgotten Mercedes concept is controlled by a joystick. Video shows complex maneuvering – Novinky.cz

There are many different concept cars in the world. Some of them inspired designers and developers to create serial models, others were created simply to attract attention, others seemed to have sunk into oblivion.

This is also an example of the impressive turquoise Mercedes F200 Imagination that was unveiled at the 1996 Paris Motor Show. At that time, the car seemed like a revelation, but it was kind of forgotten about it. But the car has attracted even more surprise and attention now that it has been shown at the London Concours motoring event.

At first glance, the car does not look like almost 26 years old technology, but rather like a storehouse of ideas for the current electric EQ models, even though it has an internal combustion engine under the hood.

Inside, for example, is a giant horizontal screen, strikingly similar to the current Mercedes Hyperscreen. The car also has cameras instead of rear-view mirrors.

The biggest feature of the car is that it is controlled by two joysticks, which seems outlandish, but at the same time very effective. In addition, the interior is replete with technologies that at that time could not be seen almost anywhere.

Data from the phone, navigation, radio, CD and DVD can be displayed, and the passenger can also control everything thanks to the joysticks. In addition, wireless headphones are also available to him.

In short, the F200 Imagination concept would not be lost today. Its price is also unusual as it is believed to have been sold to a private owner for nearly $10 million.
