The majority of Morena and allies in the Chamber of Deputies are preparing a million-dollar cut in the Judiciary.
The majority faction envisions 15 billion pesos from the Judicial Branch, by eliminating 13 trusts, however, it will seek to use other things.
According to a preliminary analysis, pro-government representatives can use salary compensation and support bonuses, insurance for major medical and life expenses of officials, as well as payments for locker rooms. and bodyguards for magistrates and ministers.
They even have budget forecasts in mind for Father’s and Mother’s Day celebrations for Judiciary personnel.
The Budget Commission of the Chamber of Deputies this week approved the ruling that eliminates the trust in the Judicial Branch and that will allow the federal government to have a fund of 15,450 million pesos.
Deputies Salomón Chertorivski (MC) and Miguel Ángel Torres (PRD) warned that the Budget Commission is not the competent body to rule the organization of the Judiciary and that the issue is headed to be declared illegal by the Supreme Court.
The reform provides for the extinction of 13 of the 14 trusts in the Supreme Court, Judicial Council, and Electoral Court, which in the second half of this year amounted to 21,554 million pesos.
By leaving only trust, the federal Executive can use its discretion and 15,450 million pesos.
The Morena bench of the Chamber of Deputies is looking for the budget items that the Judiciary has requested who will be removed to complete the cuts they announced.
Deputy Hamlet Almaguer (Morena) presented a breakdown of the items of the Budget Commission and questioned its usefulness in the request for 84,792 million of the Judiciary.
García estimated that the resources that represent a “luxury” and that part of the benefits provided to the judges could be cut.
They are among them:
– Compensation: 4 thousand 271 million pesos
– Additional salary allocation: 4 thousand 50 million pesos
– Support bonuses: 3.2 billion
– Individual separation insurance: 2,526 million
– Primary cost of medical insurance: 1,262 million
– Life insurance: 325 million
– Escorts: 282 million
– Clothes for judges, magistrates, and ministers: 235 million
– Purchase of glasses: 89 million
– Real estate income: 56 million
– Support for the celebration of Father’s Day: 26 million
– Support for celebrating Mother’s Day: 24 million
For the Morenoist legislator Hamlet Almaguer, in these things, some excesses cannot be solved by the treasury.
“It is clear that in the proposal of the Judiciary, there are funds to pay the rents of the judges and magistrates of the country for the houses they live in, we are not talking about the properties of the Judicial Council, nor where they manage. justice,” he thought.
On the part of the Opposition lawmakers, this is a response from the federal government to the latest decisions of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court that issued judicial rulings against the interests of the federal government.
“We are really surprised, we know again the strategy of the Government of Morena to suffocate bodies or Powers that do not agree with the Federal Government,” said PAN member Héctor Saúl Téllez.
“This reform is a revenge for what the Court has done,” supported the legislator Margarita Zavala.
