The general director of Tourism, Anabel Domínguez, highlighted this Friday at the tourism and technological innovation summit Tourism Innovation Summit, which took place in Seville, the need to firmly commit to digital transformation in the sector of tourism. “Now that we have taken the reins of digitalization and training, variables that will allow us to create a strategy based on data and knowledge to make accurate decisions,” he explained. In his opinion, “we are immersed in a change of model” and he added that “we must better understand the needs of the visitor, their profile, their activity at the destination and their perspective after the trip.”
This was stated during his speech at the table titled ‘Tourism ecosystems in the face of the new challenges of the Intelligent Destination Platform’. Along these lines, he emphasized that the management of destinations should be structured in a coordinated way between different agents, where the appropriate forums should be provided, listening carefully and wisely integration of different perspectives. “The success of managing the external projection of a tourist territory depends, especially, on the management of information, because the quality of the decision-making process is largely conditioned by the quality of information in the system,” explained.
For Anabel Domínguez, the importance of having enough data is the key to making the right decisions and she clarified that “for a destination, the issue is not only having valuable information about the environment, but having it in before its competitors.”
