Due to the threat that exists to free the commercialization of Dorado fish fishing, the governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, established his position against the initiative of the Morenoist senator, Raúl of Jesús Elenes Angulo , who removed those species, along with Sábalo and Rooster fish, from the list reserved for sport fishing, considered in article 68 of the General Law of Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture.
In addition, he mentioned that he coordinated with BCS representatives from other political forces in the Senate, to form a common front and prevent the development initiative, which would negatively affect the entity.
“I oppose the commercialization of goldfish and this is not just a position. Comrade Guadalupe Saldaña sent me a letter to support his initiative and I gladly did it, and I don’t care which party promoted it; It is not about ‘seeing who is the biggest driver’, it is about all sectors joining forces to protect game fisheries, which is not only for economic activity, but also for care of the species,” stated Castro Cosío.
Likewise, he considered that the governor of the state of Sinaloa, Ruben Rocha Moya, is also against the release of the aforementioned species of animal “because there is a common interest in the preservation of the Dorado.”
“It is part of our history, our life, in other words, it is not just translated into money, it is very important because it is a source of employment and preservation of marine species, because we believe that the defense of the nature of the ocean. , the land and the air are part of our activity, whether we are in government or not, we will defend it,” he continued.
Although the fate of the vote on the mentioned initiative is uncertain, Castro Cosío confirmed that he is always in contact with the states of the northwest region, which consists of Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa and Chihuahua, that “they are concerned” about marine life, which has great relevance and importance, because of this, he said, they take various actions to protect marine life.
