The investigation of the Salmantic court number 2 this Friday filed an open case against the provincial PP for the case of alleged irregular financing in the primaries held by the PP of Castilla y Leon in 2017 to choose its candidate for the regional elections. The order concludes that the facts analyzed – the payment made to the formation by various senior party officials to cover the debts of the militants, so that they can participate in these internal elections – “lack criminal characterization”. The order asserts that these financial contributions “do not constitute a donation or contribution to a political party with the intention of spending it”, but the objective was to pay the quotas “for the adjustment of the voting tax”. The judge confirms that it has been proven that there are no irregularities because Salmancan PP provided nominative affidavits “whose contents are identical in form with the previous affidavits that were approved in court, with different amounts contributed, which means that none of them can be indicated as payments to them. or income as anonymous donations with full they are identified by names and surnames.
The opening of this judicial case led to the PP a year and a half before the impeachment of the provincial, as well as that of the provincial president Francisco Javier Iglesias – who resigned a few months ago – and the manager of the formation; Maria Isabella Sánchez The payments were analyzed between December 31, 2016 and March 17, 2017, when the manager returned a debt of 61,937.65 accumulated through different bank deposits. The quantum of paid quotas of 4,900 members of the province of Charra approached and made people finally exercise their right to vote in an internal process in which Mañueco, then the mayor of Salmantica, overcame the party in Leon, Antonio Silván, and became the PP candidate for the presidency of Castilla y Leon.
Maneco won 4,087 votes against his rival’s 1,905. Only 13% of the regional members of the PP participated in these primaries. The judge explained a few months ago that 41,190 were reported thanks to “elected officials, credit workers and affiliates who voluntarily collaborated” to correct the pending accounts of “affiliate failure”. Within that sum of money 24,140 of the money questioned as much as illegal financing is prohibited in article 5 of the Organic Law 8/2007 on the financing of political parties.
