The Costco store is popular with many Mexican shoppers; its products, such as cakes, have been going crazy lately. This brand is the second-largest club chain in the world after Walmart.
Recently, Costco announced that it is preparing to build the largest megastore in Mexico. This branch will be located in Torreón, Coahuila, where Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González himself announced the opening date.
Construction of the Costco Majority shopping center north of the city of Torreón, which will be the largest in the country, begins on December 1 and will last five months until it begins operations in the first half of 2024.
The mayor of Torreón, Román Alberto Cepeda González, assured that in the next 15 days the work to introduce sewers, stormwater, and public lighting will begin, while private works at the Costco site remain scheduled for December 1st.
“Costco starts December 1st in its store, the largest in Mexico, and that is very important. As far as I know, it starts work on December 1st, according to the last conversation with them, and it will take five months to finish.” Loading. They would open on the 24th.” But five months go by very quickly because we’ve already waited eight years. “This triggers investment because other stores of this kind are also coming, including department stores and service markets,” he noted.
In addition to selling cakes, pizza, and hamburgers, this new location will have a gas station where you can stock up on Kirkland Signature gasoline. There is currently only one gas station in these cities:
Celaya, Culiacan, León, Los Cabos, Mexicali, Puebla, San Luis Potos, Saltillo, Toluca, Villahermosa, Atizapán, Ensenada, Puerto Vallarta, Chihuahua, León Torres Landa, and León Campestre
It’s important to know that gas is only delivered to Costco members. That is, if you do not have a loyalty card, you will not be offered this service, as the brand announces on its official website.
He stressed that investments are key to economic growth in the municipality since they increase its productive capacity, and in this case, the city will achieve a good end of the year having overcome the challenges brought by both the pandemic and inflation.
“Salaries and employment are increasing, and that is a great message that there is growth and, most importantly, security in the community,” he explained.
Cepeda González made it clear that the time has come for Torreón and that, due to the connectivity, services, and security it offers, more companies will come that will improve the conditions of the Laguneros.
“There are other investments coming up that we are waiting to consolidate in order to be able to make announcements like the one we just made. The most important thing is that large companies come with hiring and salaries that make Torreón and La Laguna more competitive,” he emphasized.
Recently, Costco cake customers cried out after an ad was placed in their many stores stating:
“Sales of cakes and tarts are limited to a total of 5 units per member on the same day,” adding, Chocoflan is limited to 2 units.”
Some users exploded because it was a source of employment, and while some called the brand naive for not selling everything within its reach and making a lot of money from it, others explained the background.
Costco memberships have two prices: 500 and 1,100 pesos, divided into individual and business memberships; According to information in stores and reports on social networks, the sellers of cake slices used borrowed cards, that is, cards that did not belong to them. This means a loss of money for the company, which is why you cannot buy if you do not have the headline or the photo.
So this new kind of pie restriction is broken by purchasing one more membership; that is, the essence of the matter is to buy more memberships so that Costco can make more profit.
