The Lince Community Celebrates the VIII State Contest CECyTE Chef

The College of Scientific and Technological Studies of Baja California (CECyTE BC) held the VIII edition of the “CECyTE Chef” State Contest in the city of Mexicali, with the outstanding participation of more than 100 students from the Hospitality Services major.

The General Director of the School, Mr. Christian Hiram Dunn Fitch congratulated the students, highlighting their enthusiasm and passion for cooking. He reminds them that the first competition is themselves and encourages them to keep trying to improve in what they want, always putting their heart into it.

After a fierce competition with demonstrations of unique dishes and drinks, and with the participation of 102 students and 29 counselors, the winners were announced. First place was won by the Lzaro Crdenas team, second by the La Rumorosa group and third by the Ensenada team.

In addition, honorable mentions were given for the best entry to the Xochimilco campus team, for the best drink on campus in Compuertas, for the best dessert to the Villa de Jesús María group, and for the best presentation of dishes in Playas de Tijuana. campus

The challenge for the participants is to create an original recipe dish that includes chicken, beef or pork as the main ingredient. It must consist of an appetizer, main course, drink and dessert, all prepared in a maximum time of 90 minutes.

The jury is composed of renowned professionals from the gastronomic and culinary fields. Among them are Chef Erik Ocn Cedillo, professor at the Faculty of Oenology and Gastronomy at UABC in Ensenada; Chef Jonas Campos of Corazon Artesano Restaurant; Lic. Salvador Wolfgang Riebeling Garca, Chef-owner of Caf Origen; Lic Erika Cuevas Acosta, Chef owner of Baja Kitchen; Lic Juan Manuel Escarcega Diguez, Chef-owner of Los Molcajetes.

The opening of the event included the participation of prominent personalities, including Ms. María del Rosario Varela Ortiz, who manages the Office of the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, and other representatives of educational institutions and government entities.

The College of Scientific and Technological Studies of Baja California seeks to promote and reward the creativity, originality and knowledge in the preparation of dishes and drinks of students in the Hospitality Services career, to enhance their professional development.
