The Marlins defeat the Nationals, who also lose to Soto.

WASHINGTON ( Associated Press) – Brian Anderson hit an infield single in the 10th inning to help the Miami Marlins win 7-4 over the Washington Nationals, who lost outfielder Juan Soto with a left foot injury.

The Marlins have won four in a row to go three games ahead of the .500. They have won 11 of 12 against the Nationals and can start dreaming of the NL wild-card spot, despite leading 26–39 over the rest.

Soto hit his left foot after making a right field throw in the third inning and was off the field after engaging in a hit-and-run in the fourth inning. The team did not provide any information about his condition after the match. His hitting streak ended in eight games after drawing two walks.

Miami was just one way away from losing its winning streak. After two dismissals from Avicel Garcia in the ninth, Jess Sánchez drew home a close 2–2 count off Tanner Rainey.

Tanner Scott (4-2) won and Dylan Floro scored his first save of the season in the 10th with a scoreless pitch.

For the Marlins, Dominican Jesus Sanchez scored 4-1 with one run and two and Brian de la Cruz scored two runs to 4-1; Venezuela’s Avicel García 3-1, Miguel Rojas 1-0 and Jesus Aguilar 5-0.

For the nationals, Dominican Nelson Cruz scored 5–1 and an RBI, Victor Robles 3–1; Venezuela’s Alcides Escobar scored a run, Keibert Ruiz 2-0, Cesar Hernandez 5-0, Ehire Adrianza 3-0, and Cuba’s Yadil Hernandez 2-0.
