The Mercedes-Benz GLB is getting mild hybrid technology and other changes for 2023

Mercedes-Benz is completing the renewal of its model lineup, announcing some innovations in the GLB for 2023.

Mercedes-Benz GLB is the brand’s smallest seven-seater first and the subject of renewal for 2023. Although the aesthetic changes were minimal, there are many new equipment. Now, mild hybrid technology is present in all its versions, including AMG.

This is a Belt Start Generator (RSG) driven and added 48 volt electrical system. That provides an extra 10 kW (14 hp) of boost when starting and stopping mode. It applies to four-cylinder turbo engines (petrol or diesel) and a seven-speed DCT gearbox comes standard.

Globally there are different performance levels, but the 1.33-liter GLB 200 (163 hp and 270 Nm) stands out, available in our country. While the high-performance edition of the 2.0-liter Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic (306 hp and 400 Nm) gets an eight-speed AMG SpeedShift DCT transmission.

The light signature from the previews and shutters has been visually altered. There are also new designs for the front bumper, the grill (it can be a vertical panel or a star pattern) and the wheels, with diameters from 17 to 20 inches. It comes in a Spectral Blue color, while the LED Headlamps come as standard.

The AMG edition drops the new MBUX interface, optional MultiBeam LED displays, new combinations for interior trim and upholstery, and more distinctive wheels. Moreover, it receives the same technological innovations that other variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLB 2023 have experienced.

For example, the MBUX interface has been updated and can be combined with a dual 10.2″ screen or a new heated steering wheel. Items such as a backup camera or wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto come standard. At the same time, they are nourished by the remarkable design and quality of the previous models.

To finish, the driving aids have been updated to provide greater precision in functions such as Lane Keeping Assist or Active Steering Control. For its part, the parking assistant now works for longitudinal parking and provides 360-degree external views using 3D images.

And as in the other models, the straight line Progressive and AMG sharp can be included, in addition to the base version. According to this, the wheels, upholstery, crowns, steering wheel, seats and other things vary. As an option you can have a Burmester sound system, as well as a panoramic roof.

With all these changes, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB will continue to be a winning choice among compact family SUVs. This model is produced in Mexico and then exported to the rest of the continent. There is also an electric 100 variant, which is highlighted by a distinctive front end.
