The Mexicans kidnapped in the Red Sea get a lot of attention

The Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) reported that Mexican sailors were kidnapped by Houthi rebels in Yemen, in the Red Sea, since November 20, 2023they receive adequate treatment.

The Foreign Ministry reported that through the embassies of Saudi Arabia and Iranremains in permanent communication with the authorities and interlocutors of the Houthi leadership, as well as several meetings to request the release of the Mexicans: Arturo Zacarías Meza and Marco Gómez Jerez.

In a statement, the SRE reported that the “Mexican ambassador to Iran made a call with the two Mexicans who reported that they had received adequate treatment, that they were in good health and that the conditions on board the ship where they were being held were adequate.”

“In addition, the honorary consul of Mexico in Sanaa, Yemen, visited the compatriots to check their situation and health status.”

“The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and the General Directorate of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning send through diplomatic channels the priority of ensuring the immediate and safe return of Mexicans,” he emphasized.

the SRE taught that the General Directorate of Consular Protection and Strategic Planningmaintains constant and permanent communication with the families of the two Mexicans, to inform them about the actions and efforts made.

The two Mexican sailors were kidnapped on November 20, 2023 when the cargo transport vessel. Leader of the Galaxy –where the two Mexicans were traveling– kidnapped on his journey across the Red Sea, in coast of Yemen.

Who are the Mexicans kidnapped by the Houthi rebels?

Loss cargo ship crew The Leader of the Galaxy, dedicated to transporting vehicles, was kidnapped by a group of armed men who identified themselves as Houthi rebels from Yemen, who demanded the end of war between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip.

The ship was docked at the port of Hodeidah, northern Yemen, under protection from terrorists. Of the 25 crew members, two are Mexican, from Misantla and the city of Veracruz: Arturo Zacarias Meza 31 years old and Marco Gomez Jerezchief engineer of a ship stationed on the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea.
